Would I Own The Ruby
a poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Would I own the ruby
Pearls would surround it.
Oh, proudly I’ll present it,
So dear it’s to my heart.
In a ring I would straightway set it,
Coiling snakes would jail it.
And thus I’ll say: Love - bring,
Bring it to the one I love.
